Dish & Pond Showers, Catalogue / Ceramica Tecla / Product Design, Art Direction & Graphics

2002 /  A small producer of ceramic shower trays asked me to design a couple products and up-date their catalogue. The new products, Dish and Pond, were at the time very innovative because the ‘shower’ was still untouched territory in the bathroom sector. ‘Dish’ was a round shower tray and was featured on the cover of il Bagno Oggi e Domani for the Cersaie exhibit in 2003. It was also included in the ADI index of the same year. ‘Pond’ was rectangular with sharp corners and was designed to be used with the myriad of new cubistic sinks just coming onto the market. Both Dish and Pond were accompanied by sophisticated shower accessories designed for an architecturally-minded client. For the catalogue we included the technical models in the company’s production too, like the old-fashioned laboratory and canal sinks. We introduced bold colors to everything and were the very first company in Italy to do so. Another important objective in the project was to give new ideas to architects about how to create interesting shower spaces with the products, like stone clad niches and re-dressing shower trays themselves in marble. We even proposed the idea of out-door showers!
